At St. Michaels we take inspiration from Our Lady of Perpetual Help, through our commitment to being a people of harmony on our reconciliation journey. We are committed to creating a learning environment that actively recognises and values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their rich and diverse cultures. We are committed to working in harmony with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to increase respect, reduce prejudice and strengthen unity. Through culturally responsive curriculum, prayer and celebrations, we will continue to actively acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, and perspectives, and, within all aspects of our teaching and learning, continue to foster a strong sense of connection to, respect for, and understanding of First Nations peoples continuing cultures and contributions. We will shape our learners to be reflective of the past, proactive in the present and committed to working towards a future where they can live, work and learn within a country that actively values the richness of the oldest living cultures in the world.
Our staff and students are lifelong learners who will continually work towards deepening their own knowledge of reconciliation, and their role within the reconciliation process. Our team is committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to develop an honest and holistic understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories and cultures through innovative, exciting and respectful learning opportunities. We are a people of harmony and challenge, whose dream is for a truly reconciled Australia where all people are treated with dignity, respect and fairness.       Â
