At Repton Public School, we want to create a strong community where we work towards reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people. Our vision for reconciliation is for awareness and understanding about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and perspectives within our school, across all programs and learning experiences. In our school, we will lead by example and show the behaviours we want to be reflected in the local community.
We will think about our own cultural understanding and commit to continue learning and growing in this area. We aim to create a safe and welcoming environment by promoting anti-racism within our school and school community. We will set clear expectations for respectful behaviour and will not tolerate actions that go against our commitment to respect and equality.
We believe in the importance of truth-telling and having tough conversations, as they are necessary for real progress in reconciliation. Together, we will encourage all staff and students to participate in reconciliation. We aim to build a school culture that respects diversity, acknowledges Australia’s true histories, and supports justice, equality and equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through teamwork, we aim to create a better, more inclusive future for everyone.
