At Hunter Sports High School, reconciliation is a shared journey grounded in respect, truth, and pride. We honour the Awabakal people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn, and we recognise and celebrate the many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations represented by our students and their families from across New South Wales. With over 250 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, reconciliation is not a project or initiative—it is a lived responsibility woven into the fabric of our school. Our vision is for a culturally safe and inclusive environment where First Nations peoples’ cultures, histories, and knowledges are respectfully embedded in every classroom and visible in everyday school life. We are committed to building strong, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through deep listening, truth-telling, and ongoing partnerships with Elders, families, and community. We believe all students flourish when they feel seen, heard, and valued, and we proudly support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to thrive in identity, learning, and leadership. Together, we walk the path of reconciliation—honouring the past, embracing the present, and shaping a future that reflects the strength, resilience, and excellence of the world’s oldest living cultures.
