The Dharawal People have their own living culture and heritage and are the Traditional Custodians of the Land where St John Bosco College resides. Their ongoing spiritual relationship and connection to Country has continued for thousands of years and is what inspires us to act positively towards reconciliation.
We are committed to continuing to learn about the First Nations People of Australia's histories, cultures, languages and perspectives Reconciliation at our College, is to have a focus on empathy as this is gained from a deeper understanding of Australia’s true histories and recognition of the relationship between past, present and future. We will Embed a foundation of respect and harmony towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and amongst the different cultures and this continues to be a priority in our College.
We will build on our cultural responsiveness with staff and students; aimed at eliminating racism and strengthening the relationships between wider members of our College community and First Nations staff, students, and families. Our vision is to create a culturally safe environment within our College, and for all staff and students to feel pride in learning and acknowledging the First Peoples’ of Australia's
Our shared respect in First Nations cultures and heritages, and continuing contributions is a legacy that will continue to strengthen throughout the College over time and be passed on to each new generation of students that are welcomed into our school community. We believe we can walk together into a stronger reconciled future. Committing to reconciliation by promoting understanding, valuing and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures within our school and wider community.
