VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Glenwood Public School, we are committed to create an inclusive teaching and learning environment built on mutual respect, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culture and communities are acknowledged, valued and respected.  Our vision for reconciliation is to foster a school community where all students, staff, and families develop a deep understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, histories, and contributions. We strive to create a learning environment where First Nations peoples perspectives are embedded across the curriculum, and all students feel a strong sense of belonging and respect. Our actions will focus on embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into teaching and learning programs, strengthening relationships with local First Nations communities, and providing professional learning opportunities for staff to deepen their cultural competence. We will also celebrate significant cultural events and ensure student voice is heard in reconciliation efforts. Through these actions, we will build a culturally safe and inclusive school environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students feel proud of their identity and all students develop a sense of respect and responsibility toward reconciliation. We will foster strong connections with First Nations community members and work collaboratively to create lasting change that promotes equity, understanding, and unity.
