Growing Tree Early Learning Petrie

Our Vision for reconciliation at Growing Tree Early Education Petrie, is to create a culturally safe place that acknowledges the Yugarabul people as the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our service stands.  We will learn about Aboriginal and Tores Strait Islander Peoples, cultures, histories and contributions. We will continue to ensure that staff have a deep understanding of the role reconciliation plays in creating a stronger, richer community for everyone.    We will work towards building respectful connections with local Elders and First Nations community members to; develop an appreciation of local Yugarabul perspectives, cultures and contributions. We will deepen our understanding of the important place First Nations peoples hold in contemporary Australian society.     Educators will continue to develop a deep understanding of the ongoing effects of colonisation and past government policies and practices on contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to ensure this helps us to understand the role of reconciliation.     In doing so, creating the foundations for ensuring we are respectful in how we incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories is integral to all programming.
