VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At First Steps Academy, we honour the deep and enduring connections that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities have with the Land. We are committed to fostering a genuine awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the histories, cultures, and traditions of First Nations peoples.   We strive to achieve this by embedding culturally respectful practices into every aspect of our learning environment. Through intentional teaching, meaningful conversations, and child-led exploration, we aim to inspire children to develop a strong sense of respect for Country and a shared responsibility to care for the Land and all who belong to it.     Our service is dedicated to incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into daily routines, spontaneous moments, and planned experiences. This includes celebrating cultural traditions, engaging with stories and knowledge shared by First Nations communities, and creating opportunities for children to learn from and connect with the wisdom of the worlds oldest living cultures. By doing so, we hope to nurture a generation of children who value diversity, embrace cultural understanding, and recognise the importance of caring for Country and community
