We are a brand new early childhood education service, currently in the process of opening and becoming established. As we prepare to welcome children, families, and staff into our space, we want to ensure we do so with a strong foundation of cultural respect and awareness. Our team is committed to becoming educated and equipped professionals who meaningfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives into our daily practice. We recognize the importance of paying our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we operate and embedding cultural responsiveness into our service from the very beginning. We will actively seek out guidance, resources, or opportunities for professional learning that could support us on this journey. We are eager to build respectful, authentic relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and ensure that cultural understanding is a lived value within our team. As educators and learners, we recognise the importance of embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our everyday practice, so that our children grow with knowledge, respect, and a shared sense of belonging.
