At Busy Bees at Craigieburn, we are committed to acknowledging the past and present injustices experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we understand the important role early education plays in creating a more inclusive and respectful future for all Australians. We are dedicated to embedding reconciliation meaningfully in our programs, environments, and daily practices. This includes incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our curriculum and building respectful, ongoing relationships with local communities. We aim to ensure that cultural responsiveness is not a one-off activity but a consistent and visible part of our service. Reconciliation also means engaging families, children, and staff in learning and reflection, promoting cultural safety, and deepening our understanding of First Nations cultures, histories, and contributions. We are committed to walking alongside our community as we learn, grow, and strengthen our approach to reconciliation. As educators, we recognise the crucial role we play in guiding future generations. We aspire to do this by supporting our centre and community to develop an understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, perspectives, histories, and present contributions. We are committed to ensuring that we teach about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories and cultures with accurate information and in a respectful way. We will share our knowledge of what we are currently learning about and our commitment towards reconciliation with staff, families, children, and the community in visible, respectful ways.
