VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At First Grammar Bonnyrigg Heights, our vision for reconciliation is to create a culturally safe, inclusive, and respectful learning community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures, and contributions are valued, embedded, and actively honoured every day.  We acknowledge the Dharug people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we work and learn, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. We recognise that reconciliation is the responsibility of all Australians, and we are committed to ensuring that every child, family, and educator in our centre is part of this important journey.   Our vision is shaped by the growth we have already made, through deepening our cultural understanding, building relationships with local First Nations communities, and embedding First Nations perspectives meaningfully within our curriculum, environment, and everyday practices. We strive to move beyond tokenism and symbolism, and instead engage in genuine action, reflection, and education that supports lasting change.  We believe that early education plays a vital role in shaping socially just and culturally aware current and future generations. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, we commit to ongoing learning, accountability, and partnership. We aim to nurture a space where children develop respect, empathy, and pride in the diverse cultures that make up our shared history and where reconciliation is not only spoken about, but lived.    As a learning community, we are committed to walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the spirit of respect, truth, and reconciliation, now and into the future.
