VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation at Samford Outside School Hours Care means walking together alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as we listen and learn about our nation's shared history. Our vision is to create a learning and play environment that respectfully and authentically celebrates First Nations cultures throughout our program, pedagogy and practices. We aim to create and uphold a culturally safe environment where all children, families and educators feel respected and celebrated. Through intentional programming we aim to embed knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customs, cultures, and histories into daily practices and experiences. Guided by the Aboriginal 8 Ways of Learning and in collaboration with local community and Elders, educators will provide culturally responsive experiences that align with Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. We are committed through our pedagogy and practices to holistically and authentically weave the interconnected perspectives of First Nations and Western cultures into everyday conversations and learning experiences. Through deep listening and truth-telling, we aim to foster a generation that values diversity and equality and contributes positively as we work towards a reconciled Australia.
