VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

As an OSHC community, we endeavour to ensure educators, children and families understand and acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the oldest continuing cultures and the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live and play.  We understand that reconciliation education is an ongoing journey so that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel included and that their voices are heard, particularly for those that have struggled to fight for meaningful change within Australia and that as an OSHC community we ensure that everyone feels welcome in our environment and community.

We aim to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, deepening our understanding of their social and cultural heritages, working to ensure that First Nations peoples feel a sense of belonging and acknowledgement. As Educators, we will strive to respectfully embed First Nations perspectives in our centre philosophy and connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to build reciprocal relationships, striving to be respectful in our curriculum and that Canterbury College OSHC is a culturally safe place for all.
