VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Gurwood Early Learning Centre, reconciliation means walking together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a spirit of respect, truth, and unity. It is about acknowledging the Wiradjuri People as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play, and respecting their deep cultural knowledge, history, and ongoing connection to Country.

Reconciliation at Gurwood is not a single event or acknowledgement — it is a daily commitment to listening, learning, and taking meaningful action. It means embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum, environment, language, and relationships in a way that is authentic and lasting. We strive to create a culturally safe and inclusive space where children grow up with a strong sense of identity, respect for diversity, and pride in the rich history of the Land they call home.

Our team will be motivated by purpose, connection, and progress. We are inspired by the opportunity to nurture cultural understanding from the early years, to deepen our connection with Wiradjuri Country through nature play and storytelling, and to learn alongside the children and families we serve. We believe that by working together, engaging in professional learning, and building genuine partnerships with First Nations communities, we can make a real difference. We aim to provide a service where reconciliation is lived, not just spoken — and where children grow up knowing the true histories of Australia and the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
