YMCA Tarneit ELC believes that as a nation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children should be able to benefit from equal, equitable and safe education and learning opportunities. Â
We truly value each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person as the First Peoples of Australia through developing a deep respect and understanding of their histories, cultures and perspectives. Â
As Australians actively working towards reconciliation, we embrace unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians by promoting equality and equity, historical acceptance of our shared histories and removal of discrimination and negative race relations. Â
As a centre we also believe that reconciliation is about relationships, respect and trust. Through reconciliation we will strengthen relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for the benefit of all Australians. Â
Our Reconciliation Action Plan is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation underpinned by three key themes of, relationships, respect and opportunities. Â
By making this commitment YMCA Tarneit ELC aims to: Â
Enrich the lives of our staff, children, families, volunteers and the wider community through a deeper understanding and connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to also provide opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to have input and contribute into our programs.Â
