VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Respectful and reciprocal relationships are central to our philosophy and values. As part of our reconciliation journey, we aim to build meaningful connections with local Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. These relationships help us honour and integrate First Nations perspectives into our daily practices and curriculum.

We believe in nurturing empathy, emotional literacy, and a strong sense of identity in our children. Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures into our learning supports children to grow into thoughtful, caring, and socially aware citizens.

We acknowledge the strength, resilience, and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the face of past and present injustices. Their knowledge and cultural practices continue to shape Australia’s identity and inspire us to reflect, learn, and grow.

Our centre embraces its responsibility to help children develop a social conscience and an understanding of equity and justice. Through meaningful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, we aim to foster a culture of respect and celebration of Australia’s oldest continuing cultures.

Our commitment to reconciliation is ongoing. We are dedicated to supporting and educating our community about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, both pre- and post-colonisation, and to celebrating cultural diversity in partnership with First Nations peoples.

At Lilyfield Early Learning Centre, we recognise diversity as a strength and are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all children, families, staff, and community members.

Nations peoples.
