At Shellharbour Early Learning and Care we strive to continue contributing to Australia's reconciliation journey. We aim to work alongside and show respect to Dharawal people, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we explore, investigate, learn, create, grow, and prosper.
We will be respectful of First Nations peoples’ cultures, histories, stories, and their ongoing contributions to this beautiful country. Our educators make a commitment to connecting with and sharing our reconciliation journey with children, families, and the community. We also commit to connecting with and respectfully embedding First Nations peoples’ perspectives, cultures and histories in our teaching. Finally, we will further our professional learning, strengthen our community relationships, and promote a culturally safe space for all.
We pledge to respectfully embed First Nations Peoples’ perspectives using respectful practices and terminology in our service through discussions with the children and families, building this up for our future generations within our service. We hope to demonstrate our commitment towards stronger community connections and understanding of Wodi Wodi culture as we build on our reconciliation journey and continue to promote equity and equality for First Nations children, families, and communities.
