Our vision is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are actively recognised as being the First Nations people of Australia; where all Australians respectfully embrace Elders past, present and future for the wisdom and knowledge they hold and share; and where emerging leaders in local communities are acknowledged and supported. Avenues Montessori is committed to contributing to an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families feel a strong sense of belonging and where connections with community and Country are actively respected and supported; where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultural identities are respected, and  cultural safety is realised in all spaces; and where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are recognised and nurtured as the creators, thinkers and doers of today and tomorrow. This vision will also support all families in Avenues Montessori Community to feel valued and respected. We acknowledge the rights of all children and families attending AMCH to learn about the true histories and cultures of the Land on which we come together to play and learn. We commit to extending knowledge and understanding about the First Peoples of Australia in ways that are respectfully embedded in our everyday practice and across all curriculum areas. Developing a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, perspectives and cultures will enrich the lives of all our staff, families and children. We will continue to work in partnership to provide meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and perspectives to engage with our programs. As educators, we commit to doing this by supporting our community to develop an understanding and knowledge of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritages and continuing contributions.       Â
