VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians, while respecting and valuing the cultures, histories, knowledge, contributions, and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

At Manor Lakes Kindergarten, we are committed to furthering our learning and recognizing opportunities to meaningfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our teaching practices and curriculum. As educators, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to inform the future leaders of Australia about the ongoing connection between the past, present, and future.

We plan to achieve this by engaging with our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community on Wadawurrung Country. We recognize that they are the original teachers and mentors of this land, and we are genuinely interested in learning from them. This knowledge will be integrated into our kindergarten programs for children and families, ensuring that their perspectives are embedded in our planning. Educators will participate in ongoing professional development to deepen their understanding of the First Peoples’ ways of being and doing. Through these actions, we aim to empower all children and families, fostering a sense of pride in our shared and rich history.
