VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Southbank Montessori, reconciliation means embedding a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, including this knowledge into our daily routines, demonstrating a commitment to respecting and honoring the perspectives of First Nations peoples. We aim to go beyond symbolic gestures, ensuring every action fosters genuine engagement with First Nations peoples and cultures.  A reconciled Australia is one where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples voices are heard, respected, and integrated into society, creating an inclusive environment that celebrates the cultural diversity of First Nations peoples and actively engages with our shared histories. Reconciliation is about unity, respect, and understanding, where children grow up knowing the importance of learning from the wisdom of First Nations peoples. We understand that reconciliation involves the broader community. By engaging with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, Elders, and local families, we aim to deepen connections and foster shared understanding. We encourage all families to actively participate in this journey, as their support is crucial in creating an inclusive, respectful environment. We are dedicated to sharing this vision with our families, empowering them to be active participants in reconciliation. Together, we will create a learning environment where respect, sustainability, and cultural awareness are integral to all we do.
