VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Nedlands School of Early Learning recognises the Whadjuk Nyoongar peoples as the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our centre is located.

To us, reconciliation involves a continuing commitment to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures, contributions, and perspectives. We acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and identities are diverse, and we are committed to remaining open, respectful, curious, and courageous in our reconciliation process.

Our approach to reconciliation values respect, truth-telling, relationships, and action. We aim to engage children, families, educators, and our community in building a reconciled Australia. We are committed to taking action by actively embracing, celebrating, and learning from Aboriginal ways of knowing and being. We also seek to embed anti-bias approaches in our curriculum and make our learning visible through our environment, resources, and documentation within the centre.

We are committed to grounding our practices in First Nations peoples voices and to building meaningful relationships by consulting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities when embedding their perspectives, contributions, and voices in our learning programs.
