At Goodstart Jones Hill, we recognise and respect the First Nations peoples of Australia and acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play.
We believe that cultural responsiveness is developed on both a personal and professional level and is about building a shared understanding to provide culturally responsive programs and environments for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and non-Indigenous students.
We are on a journey to increase authentic participation, equality and equity through which we are laying the foundations for current and future generations to respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and heritages as a proud part of a shared identity. Educators encourage children to be respectful and care for Country, as well as each other. We share with families and the wider community why building knowledge of, and respect for, First Nations peoples and cultures is important within their child's ongoing learning journey, and to the wider journey of reconciliation.
