Milestones Early Childhood Development recognises that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members are vital partners in our journey towards reconcilation and their views and opinions are both valued and respected at all times within our service. Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families have the same life opportunities as all Australians. We believe that children, young people and families should be safe, thriving and hopeful.
Reconciliation is a vital component to staff, children and families at Milestones and by recognising this importance it allows us to create opportunities to strengthen our knowledge of the Quandamooka culture, ensuring that we are imparting this knowledge onto the children within our care in a culturally safe and respectful manner. By sharing this knowledge with the children and embedding First Nations peoples’ perspectives into our daily routines and programs, Milestones seeks to further promote reconciliation and social change.
We at Milestones are committed to ensuring that the experiences that are provided to the children within our care are authentic and work to strengthen both the children's understanding and their appreciation of the histories, languages and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We are committed to ensuring that our environments are culturally safe and through collaborative partnerships with all respective agencies we ensure that the relationships developed are of benefit to all involved.
