This collaborative relationship has been formed over many years and we are committed to strengthening our bond and continually reconnecting with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members as vital partners in our journey towards reconciliation and their views and opinions will continue to be sought and respected throughout the year. Reconciliation is important to all staff at Papilio Early Learning, Wakerley, as it provides us with opportunities to respectfully extend on our own knowledge and understanding of the local Quandamooka peoples’ culture, histories and language while respectfully sharing these understandings with the children we teach. By continuing to embed culturally respectful practices into the daily routines and ongoing programs across the rooms, educators will further promote reconciliation. These ongoing, embedded practices and experiences will be continuously reflected on and reviewed to ensure they are respectful and authentic and, wherever possible, these will be reflected on in partnership with members of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We are committed to providing engaging and authentic experiences that promote children’s appreciation and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and languages. We at Papilio Early Learning, Wakerley are excited to continue to promote and work towards reconciliation. We will continue to work with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to develop and deepen respectful and collaborative relationships that benefit all involved.
