At Pine Mountain Road Child Care, we acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, as the Traditional Custodians of Australia. We pay our respects especially to the Yuggera People (pronounced Ya-ga-ra) as the Traditional Custodians of the Land our education and care service is built on. Â Â Â
We believe that a better knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures will help to develop an enriched appreciation of Australia's cultural heritage which will lead to reconciliation. Reconciliation is essential to the maturity of Australia as a nation and the development of Australia's identity. Our goal is for an Australia that embraces unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians, a national culture that represents equality and historical acceptance of our shared history and a removal of negative race relations. Â Â Â
We believe that the more knowledge educators have on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, the more confidence they will have to provide a culturally safe environment. Where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives are implemented and embedded around our service, in our daily routines and in our educational program. Therefore, the more children see, hear and participate in the more understanding, acceptance and respect they will have towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures. We believe that children are the future leaders of Australia and embedding this early in life is the key to reconciliation for years and generations to come. Â Â Â
We respect the Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge their traditions past, present and continue these into the future. We aim to do this by working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the local community. Â Â Â Â
