VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation in our Centre is based on building trusted genuine connections and relationships between our centre community and First Nations peoples. We aim for children to have an understanding and respect for the importance of recognising and engaging with the histories, stories, and cultural ways of being and doing of First Nations peoples.  We aim to provide a culturally safe environment where First Nations jarjums feel connected within, and a sense of belonging to, the centre and wider community. We commit to engaging with First Nations peoples and seek to provide opportunities for First Nations voices within our reconciliation journey. We recognise that as part of our reconciliation journey, we must approach collaborative relationships with open minds and to engage with, and learn from, First Nations peoples, ensuring that children grow to recognise, respect and advocate for a reconciled Australia.  We acknowledge our responsibility to inform non-Indigenous families of the importance of First Nation peoples’ perspectives and developing their understanding about the ongoing impacts on First Nations peoples since colonisation.
