VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Emily Foord Memorial Kindergarten, our vision for reconciliation is to foster deep, enduring relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities. We are committed to connecting on personal, professional, and institutional levels, guided by respect, authenticity, and shared understanding. We seek to continuously learn by listening with open hearts to the diverse stories and experiences around us—placing particular value on the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all members of our learning community actively participate in reconciliation. We nurture a culture that respects, values, and celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion, instilling pride in the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures. Our commitment includes embedding opportunities for children and families to develop meaningful knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives—both traditional and contemporary. Through intentional practice, we encourage reflective thinking and foster respect that contributes to each child’s unique identity. We are dedicated to contributing to broader efforts that support equity and equality in wellbeing and educational outcomes and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Reconciliation is not a separate initiative—it is interwoven into everything we do.
