VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Goodstart  Numurkah believe that First Nations children and non-Indigenous children should have access to equal and equitable educational and learning opportunities We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia through a deep respect and understanding of First Nations heritages, knowledges, languages, and customs.  As Australians actively working towards reconciliation, we embrace unity between First Nations peoples and other Australians by promoting true equality and equity, historical acceptance of our own shared histories and the removal of all discrimination and negative race relations. As a centre, we also believe that reconciliation is about relationships, respect and trust. Through reconciliation we strengthen the relationships between the wider Australian community and First Nations peoples for the benefit of all Australians.  By making this commitment Goodstart Early Learning, Numurkah strives to enrich the lives of staff, children, families, volunteers and the wider community through a deeper understanding and connection to the local First Nations peoples, whilst also providing opportunities for First Nations peoples to have input and contribute into our programs. We strive to build and maintain respectful relationships with First Nations staff, community and Elders, recognising and acknowledging the Yorta Yorta Peoples enduring living culture, with deep connections to the Land on which our service stands. We recognise the hurt and healing which needs to occur.
