Maldon Preschool believes in the importance of reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people. We aim to strengthen relationships between non-Indigenous people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through exploring our differences and similarities in a respectful way, without fear of prejudice, discrimination, or racism, so we can work toward creating an inclusive and equitable society.
In continuing to develop and implement our Reconciliation Action Plan, we hope to further our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and living cultures.
We strive to achieve this through our bush kinder program out on Dja Dja Wurrung country, and incorporating a strong Aboriginal perspective while our children explore the bush kinder setting. Learning in nature teaches children about responsibility and care for the land, invigorates the senses, stimulates the imagination and creativity, and nourishes wellbeing which supports our reconciliation journey.
