VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians for the benefit of all. It acknowledges Australia's colonial histories of land dispossession, violence, and racism, while recongising the progress made toward healing and justice. At North Hamilton Kindergarten, our reconciliation vision is based on the five dimensions: Race Relations, Equality and Equity, Institutional Integrity, Unity, and Historical Acceptance. The Children Our vision for the children is to create a learning environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children see their cultures reflected with pride and non-Indigenous peers grow into compassionate, empathetic citizens who value Australia's true history. We aim to nurture children to show care, empathy, and respect for the land, for their communities, and for each other-seeing differences not as barriers, but as opportunities for learning and connection. This works towards the goals of race relations, unity, and historical acceptance. The Team Our vision for the team is to feel supported in delivering a culturally rich, safe, and inclusive learning enviornment year-round. We are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across all learning areas, rather than in isolated activities or at limited times of the year.  We support our educators in building strong connections with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups and Elders, ensuring cultural integrity and truth-telling are central to our work.  This fosters institutional integrity and promotes equality and equity in education. The Community Our vision for the community is to lead by example- to be open to learning, to acknowledge where growth is needed, and to embrace continuous improvement.  By teaching cultural safety and respect for Country, we aim to instill values that we all carry into life, helping to reduce prejudice and support future reconciliation.
