At William Hovell Preschool, our vision for reconciliation is an inclusive community where the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are acknowledged and respected. We are committed to fostering mutual respect and understanding through education and strong relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We aim to embed respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures in our practices, including a daily Acknowledgment of Country and the ongoing connections to the Land.
We integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories into our curriculum, promoting understanding and respect for First Nations languages, art, and traditions.
We prioritise authentic relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, working with Elders and leaders as we further our cultural education.
We will create a culturally safe space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children; feel respected, represented and safe to share their knowledges and cultures as they choose.
We are committed to professional development for educators, providing opportunities to strengthen their cultural awareness and providing equitable employment for Aboriginal educators.
Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, we aim to foster reconciliation, ensuring that current and future generations understand and respect the rich cultural heritages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
