VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At South Melbourne OAC Campus, our vision for reconciliation is deeply embedded in every aspect of our school community. Through ongoing learning, mutual respect, and collaboration with the local First Nations community, we are committed to creating an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, as well as non-Indigenous students, staff, and families, can thrive together in harmony, understanding, and unity. Our Reconciliation Action Plan serves as a guiding framework, directing our efforts toward a more just and reconciled future.

We envision an Australia where unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians is embraced, a national culture that embodies equality and equity, the acceptance of our shared histories, and the eradication of negative racial relations.

As part of our commitment, we will continue to ensure a culturally safe campus, where all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families feel welcome, represented, and a true sense of belonging. We are also dedicated to strengthening community engagement by actively involving local First Nations representatives and families in our initiatives, events, and learning processes.

Furthermore, we will continue to provide staff with opportunities for professional development in cultural awareness and responsiveness, enabling them to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and perspectives.
