VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is to embed and learn about authentic and respectful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.

We will achieve this by connecting with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, groups and people who we can develop meaningful relationships with to help build a shared understanding.

We will build our knowledge through our relationships and as well as learning through seeking professional development courses developed by reputable sources.

Our approach involves ongoing research, critical reflection, and professional development, enabling us to foster an atmosphere that prioritises reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider community. We continue to build respectful relationships with the First Peoples of the Land, creating meaningful opportunities for learning about local histories and cultures. This includes educating our community on Australia’s true histories and engaging in discussions about colonisation, acknowledging past mistakes, and learning from them.

Additionally, we believe in the power of activism. We will continue to encourage even our youngest citizens to understand social justice and participate in meaningful actions. By nurturing their curiosity and compassion, we instill values of respect, inclusivity, and advocacy, ensuring that the legacy of reconciliation is carried forward.

At Choklits Ringwood, our vision is a continuous journey of learning, celebrating, and working together toward a future that honours the past while embracing understanding, respect, and healing.
