Ascot Vale Progress Kindergarten’s vision for reconciliation is one where First Nations peoples’ histories, cultures and rights are acknowledged, respected, and valued. We recognise the great strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and celebrate the survival of the oldest continuing cultures. We seek to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and we will respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our curriculum so students see their cultures and identities represented. As educators we believe we have a responsibility to engage children in high quality, culturally appropriate early childhood education, to cultivate a culturally responsive learning community where the values of equity, equality and fairness are embedded in our everyday practice and interactions with the wider Australian Community.
