Our philosophy is nurturing children’s lives and to respectfully embed First Nations peoples' cultures into our curriculum and throughout our centre. Our vision is to create a cultural safe space and for all First Nations children and families to feel welcome and experience a sense of belonging in our service. We want allchildren to learn about the histories and cultures of the First Nations peoples and in particular that of the local Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people. We aim to create a community where staff, children, families and the wider community respect and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and perspectives. Co-op is committed to Respect (Gahgook), Recognition (Ngarngaith) and Relationships (Djerri) through Reconciliation with Australia’s First Nations peoples. We recognise our responsibilities to work towards a future that reinforces the values of inclusiveness, equity and unity. We come together to create a plan that we believe will help us develop deeper understandings of Australia’s colonial history and the histories and cultures of the First Nations peoples of Australia. We strive to embed the cultures of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people in our centre as well as the cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our service has continuously strive to understand and respectfully engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, allowing educators and children to incorporate First Nations perspectives in spaces, celebrations and seasons into our daily activities.
