VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At St Marys, we are committed to building strong, respectful, and reciprocal relationships with First Nations Peoples, particularly the Darug people, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which learn, play and grow.  We strive to foster childrens understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives by actively challenging biases and stereotypes, and by creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment where First Nations children, families, and wider community members feel welcomed, valued, and respected.   Through respectful engagement with natural resources and place-based pedagogy, we aim to nurture a sense of belonging and responsibility to care for the environment and wildlife around our school.   We are dedicated to respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives throughout our educational curriculum and daily rhythms ensuring they are authentic.  Our ongoing commitment to learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, true histories and shared stories empowers our educators to co-create a equal and equitable present and future. By honouring First Nations ways of being, knowing and doing, we walk alongside the First Nations community in shaping meaningful, relational learning.
