VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Gamumbi has a strong and ongoing commitment to reconciliation. We endeavour to provide children, families, and educators with opportunities to deepen their learning about the importance of First Nations peoples’ histories and cultures, particularly the local Gumbaynggirr cultures, through respectfully including First Nations peoples’ perspectives into our practice, curriculum, policies and philosophy.  We will continually work to strengthen relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, ensuring that Gamumbi is a safe place for First Nations children and families. We recognise First Nations cultures as the oldest continuous living cultures in the world, the true histories of Australia and the ongoing impacts on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples since colonisation.  Sovereignty was never ceded; we acknowledge that this Land always was, and always will be, Gumbaynggirr Land. We accept the invitation made to us from the Uluru Statement of the Heart and recognise that the five dimensions of reconciliation are paramount in building a reconciled nation. We endeavour to embed the goals of these dimensions into our curriculum, philosophy, and planning.
