VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Little Zaks Rhodes, reconciliation means walking together to bridge the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people within our service.

Our aim is to respectfully embed and promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples ways of knowing, being and doing into our everyday curriculum. We strive to honour and where appropriate, share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and acknowledge that learning is holistic, communal and deeply connected to land, language, and culture.

Reconciliation Australia defines reconciliation through five critical dimensions that together represent a holistic and comprehensive picture of reconciliation:

1. Race relations building respectful and just relationships

2. Equality and equity ensuring fairness and opportunity for all

3. Institutional integrity embedding respect into our policies and practices

4. Unity celebrating our shared identity as Australians

5. Historical acceptance acknowledging truth-telling and shared histories

6. Connection to Country respecting and caring for Country, land, waters and skies as the first teachers
