Hammond Park Primary School is committed to fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and understanding through a Reconciliation Action Plan that empowers both students and staff to engage with, respect and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' histories, cultures and perspectives. We acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land upon which we teach and learn. We are dedicated to respectfully embedding their perspectives into our classroom practices. We will provide meaningful opportunities through workshops and culturally responsive teaching with the aim to empower students, teachers, families and the wider community with knowledge about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and fostering a deeper understanding of reconciliation.
Our school actively fosters relationships and collaborates with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure our curriculum is authentic and respectful. Through culturally responsive teaching, we create an environment where students, families and staff are empowered to take action against racism. Hammond Park Primary School is continuously working towards a future where all school community members contribute to a more inclusive, harmonious and reconciled society for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all people.
