VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Trinity Gardens School, we are dedicated to creating a respectful community that values, acknowledges, and understands the histories, cultures, and languages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. In this environment, every individual in our school community is empowered to contribute to meaningful efforts towards reconciliation.

Our goals are:

1. To respectfully support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners and families at our site through collaborative relationships and connections.

2. We strive to establish a culturally safe learning environment that prioritises truth-telling and cultural responsiveness, grounded in the principles of Knowing, Being and Doing.

Knowing: Cultural responsiveness is the shared responsibility of all, encompassing an understanding of the histories, cultures, and languages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Doing: We apply our knowledge in real-world contexts, ensuring cultural awareness is embedded in our actions, daily practices and celebrating cultural events.

Being: We foster self-awareness by recognising our own and others’ values, nurturing empathy, and deepening understanding. This encourages us to reflect on our role in reconciliation and to take responsibility for our actions.

At Trinity Gardens, we are working to embed the five stones—Country, Connectivity, Language, Values and Ceremony—while embracing respect, collaboration, leadership and accountability in everything we do. We are committed to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to build respectful relationships, understand the past, and work toward justice, equality, and equity for all. Our Reconciliation Action Plan serves as both a commitment and a roadmap, guiding us on this journey.

We invite all members of our community to join us in creating a future grounded in respect, understanding and shared purpose towards reconciliation.
