At Sacred Heart School we are committed to reconciliation; walking and learning together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our vision is that Sacred Heart is a school that is culturally safe and respectful of the cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; where we leave space to ask questions to build a shared understanding of culture. A place committed to the truth-telling of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and stories, particularly in our local area and working towards healing and understanding together as a community. Through our curriculum we will ensure tahe we teach about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and Cross Curricular Priorities in a deep and meaningful way with a strengths-based approach. We will continue to build relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We will continue to ensure that our environment is welcoming, inclusive and visibly speaks of our commitment to acknowledging the Country, Language and cultures of the First Peoples of Australia and sharing in our relationships and story of a reconciled Nation. We will be a community that walks lightly on Country with our footprints leaving a legacy of respect, equity and equality for generations of students to come.
