VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Bardia Public School, we envision a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that celebrates and respects the unique histories, cultures, and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to fostering engagement and cultural learning by acknowledging past injustices and striving for a future where reconciliation is at the heart of our community. We proudly recognise the Dharawal People and Country, the land on which we learn and grow. Honouring and learning from the wisdom and traditions of the Dharawal People is crucial to our reconciliation efforts. Building strong relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members is essential to our vision, as we aim to authentically incorporate community perspectives and the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our programs, ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices guide our initiatives. By collaborating with community members and the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group, we seek to create meaningful and inclusive educational experiences that honour the heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through continuous cultural competency training for our staff and the integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait histories into our educational framework, we strive to provide rich and authentic learning experiences. At Bardia Public School, we celebrate our diversity, recognising that every individual contributes to the vibrant tapestry of our school community. By promoting the wellbeing of all students and cultivating a respectful school culture, we believe we can improve educational outcomes and foster a more equal and equitable society. Our journey involves ongoing reflection and evaluation of our practices, ensuring we honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' heritages. As we move forward together, we embrace unity as a fundamental value. We are committed to making reconciliation a living action that takes place every day within our school.
