VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Bellbird Public Schools vision for reconciliation is to create an environment that is welcoming, culturally safe and embraces unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.

We aim to promote equality, equity and unity as we strive towards strengthening race relations at a staff, student and community level. In the context of our organisation, acknowledging the shared history of our country and celebrating and valuing the diverse strengths, achievements and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people remains at the core of all of our endeavors. We strive to provide equal and equitable educational opportunities and outcomes for all students, and an inclusive and diverse workplace that is not just culturally safe, but culturally rich and proud.

We are committed to working in a respectful way with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations and communities.

Bellbird Public School will do this by:

*Consulting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, including families, community and Elders

*Valuing and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' connections with the Land, their culture and knowledge

*Ensuring that our establishment is a culturally safe space, free from racism

*Embedding authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum and extra-curricular endeavors.

Bellbird Public School acknowledges that our RAP is an evolving, working document that will be reviewed and adjusted regularly to ensure we are genuinely addressing the aspirations of our vision statement.
