VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We acknowledge that Gwandalan Public School is built on Darkinjung Country and the ongoing care for Country by First Nations peoples. Our vision for reconciliation is active acknowledgement of the connections First Nations peoples have to the Land and the concept of caring for the Land as a shared responsibility.

We aim to foster strong, inclusive and respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people with acceptance and understanding. We will create connections with the local First Nations communities, committed to developing and strengthening these relationships. We aim to provide opportunities for all to gain knowledge and a deeper understanding of, and respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, stories, languages and ways of learning.

Our vision for reconciliation is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to have equal and equitable learning opportunities and a community that acknowledges and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures.

Gwandalan Public School acknowledges our role in supporting students to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and perspectives, acknowledging that reconciliation is everyone's business, and one that we are committed to.
