VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Greenway Park Public School, we acknowledge the rich and enduring connections that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with the land, waters, and skies. Our vision for reconciliation is a future where all members of the local community walk together with respect and understanding of the shared histories of Australia. We are committed to creating a learning environment that respects the cultures and traditions of First Nations peoples, providing all students with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a just and equitable society.

We believe that reconciliation starts with truth-telling and the recognition of the injustices since colonisation. Through collaborative partnerships with local Elders and the Traditional Custodians, we aim to nurture a culture of respect and foster a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, equipping students to become compassionate change makers.

Together, we will ensure that the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are heard and reflected in all aspects of school life. We aim to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our learning spaces. Through ongoing learning, cultural experiences, and engagement, we seek to build stronger connections between the school and local First Nations community, where all people feel safe, supported, and respected.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student is given the opportunity to thrive, learn, and grow, with respect for the wisdom and strength of the First Peoples of Australia at the heart of our journey towards reconciliation.
