Our vision for reconciliation at Lucas Gardens School is to create an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and all students are supported to thrive both academically and culturally. We strive to build and strengthen meaningful relationships between our school and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly with the local community connected to our school.Â
We will provide meaningful opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of Australia's shared history and the rich traditions of Country and its First People. This understanding is essential for us to truly value and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. Therefore, we commit to walking together on this journey of reconciliation, raising awareness, promoting equity, and fostering respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Â
In our pursuit of reconciliation, we are guided by our school values: We inspire a sense of curiosity by respectfully incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our learning activities. We exercise courage to engage in learning, unlearning, and relearning about our biases and prejudices. We display character by building respectful, trusting, and inclusive relationships with the local community. Â
Together, we strive for a future where all members of our school community are empowered to contribute to reconciliation and celebrate the progress we make along the way.Â
